Sports: Big Astros trade

Our friend Matt Albers is now a Baltimore Oriole. The Astros traded Luke Scott, Albers, Troy Patton and a 3rd base prospect to acquire Miguel Tejada.

While that question may have been intended for Ryan, I will throw in my two cents for the heck of it. Here are a few of my concerns.

1.) Our problem is starting pitching and we just traded a couple of talented, young prospects that have spent time in the Astros farm system.

2.) Since the Winter Meetings, it looked like Scott and Chris Burke would be traded together in package deal. This deal for Tejada does not include Burke and he's not great trade bait by himself. So do we package him with someone else and if so who? NOT Adam Everett if that's what you were thinking. Which leads me to concern number three.

3.) First order of business now that this trade is final, what will be the fate of one of the best, if not the best, defensive shortstop in the league, Adam Everett? With a shaky starting lineup, the Astros will need all the help they can get defensively and Tejada will not provide that. From what I understood, that was a big reason for bringing in Kaz Matsui because Burke is a poor fielder.

The offensive spark will be a great help to the lineup if Tejada can continue to produce like he did for Baltimore. Maybe now that our lineup is solid, instead of strong starting pitching and poor run production, this season we can be frustrated with the opposite!

I say Ed Wade should continue to shop around to see what he could now get for Tejada and Burke! (Like starting pitching and a closer.)

What if this Tejada guy is on the drug list coming out today? Will this put a spoke in the tire?
