So I've heard from everyone and their mother how much better Mozilla Firefox is than Internet Explorer, but I never really saw a good reason to switch over.
When Windows recently asked me to upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer, I ignored my common sense and upgraded.
I got pissed when IE kept shutting down on my out of nowhere whenever I went to media-heavy sites like College Humor and Break. No error message or anything, every instance of IE I had open would just close.
So I downloaded Firefox. Man, am I glad that IE kept crashing - I would never have been motivated to try Firefox, otherwise.
It's not very different from IE, so it's not like you have to learn a whole new program. It's just better.
First, it's faster. It doesn't take as long for the program to open and operate.
Second, it's pop-up blocking software is MUCH better than IE. I almost never get pop-ups now, even the ones that pop-up behind your current window.
Like the latest version of IE, it features tabbed browsing...this keeps you from having to have multiple windows open.
It also imports all of your bookmarked pages, homepage, favorite, etc. from IE so you don't have to bother setting all that crap up again.
Downloading stuff is alot easier and more customizable - all the Microsoft stuff seems to make it difficult to grab stuff from the web. Not so with Firefox.
Oh, and a big thing that bothered me about the latest versions of Internet Explorer is how they added that thing where you have to click a video twice to play it - once to like select it, then you gotta hit the play button. How annoying. Apparently, Microsoft added this to cover their asses for some kind of copyright issues.
Basically, it's faster, simpler, more intuitive, and better for your computer.
Get Firefox, you'll be happy.
